Unloading 


I won’t do it anymore.

I won’t bite the bullet
             stick to my guns
             shoot from the hip
             go ballistic
             or give it my best shot.

I refuse to enter with guns blazing.
No one should be caught in the crossfire.

I won’t be quick on the draw
             fully loaded
   a real pistol
             or a straight shooter.

I won’t set my sights on anything
             or put anything in my crosshairs.

I will not pull out the big guns
             or even shoot the breeze.

Nothing shall come under fire.
No one is a son of a gun.

There is no silver bullet.
There is no parting shot.
