MDC WOMEN'S HISTORY MONTH KICK-OFF
Weaving the Stories of Women's Lives
Claudia Gordon, Esq
Opening Ceremony for Women's History Month
Josett Peat, Chairperson of English and Communications thanks Dr. Claudia Gordon
for a very inspiring presentation.
Dr. Gordon focused on her life story, the difficulties and the accomplishments. In addition to honoring her mother's memory and discussing the significant women who have played a major role in her life, Dr. Gordon also challenged all women, never to view themselves as victims, but instead to view themselves as capable individuals who can accomplish anything they set their minds to accomplish. She stressed the significance of perseverance, hard work and acquiring an education. Overall, Dr. Gordon captured the audience's attention and even though at times some wept at her words, the room vibrated with energy and excitement by the end of the presentation. She truly managed to inspire!
